Activated 5.60 in Vypolzovo (Bologoye-4), Tver Oblast, as the 7th Missile Brigade, from the 19th Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade.

Initially under the 46th Artilley Range Administration, but from 10.3.61 under the 3rd independent Guards Missile Corps.

30.5.61 renamed 7th Guards Missile Division.

Began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1965, and the first regiment went on alert duty in September 1967.

The 302nd Missile Regiment was transferred to Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Kray in 1965.

From 8.6.70 attached to the 50th Missile Army.
