Activated 5.60 in Vypolzovo (Bologoye-4), Tver Oblast, as the 7th Guards Missile Brigade, from the 19th Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade.

30.5.61 renamed 7th Guards Missile Division.

Organisation 1961:

In March 1964 all R-16 battalions were upgraded to regiments.

Organisation 1964:

Began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1965, and the first regiment went on alert duty in September 1967.

The 302nd Missile Regiment was transferred to Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Kray in 1965.

1.10.69 the 355th Missile Regiment was activated, but 20.7.71 was transferred to the 46th Missile Division.

Organisation 1971 (110 UR-100 silos, 6 R-16 silos and 12 R-16 pads):

30.4.75 awarded the Red Banner.

1975/79 converted to the MR-UR-100 (SS-17) missiles, and the R-16 missile were withdrawn from service.

The MR-UR-100 were withdrawn 1989-1995, and the division converted to the RT-2PM (SS-25) missile.

Organisation 2000 (18 RT-2PM mobile laiúnchers):

The planned re-equipment with the 15P165M (RS-24 Yars) in 2017, has still not taken place.
