Activated 5.12.69 at the Baikonur Test Range (5th NIIP), from the 39th independent Engineering & Test Unit.
Initially under the Baikonur Test Range, and from 1964 the 31st Missile Army.
Organisation 1971:
794th Missile Regiment (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
157th Missile Regiment (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
353rd Missile Regiment (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
The silos was to have been dismantled due to the SALT treaty in 1979, but the brigade was instead renamed, Administration of independent Engineering & Test Units, now with (and again under the Baikonur Test Range):
230th independent Engineering & Test Unit (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
231st independent Engineering & Test Unit (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
232nd independent Engineering & Test Unit (Baikonur Test Range) with 6 R-36-O silos
The regiments stood down 1982/83, and the silos was destroyed in May 1984.
Disbanded 1984.
