Activated 6.60 in Bershet, Perm Oblast, from the 1206th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment, under the 206th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 52nd Missile Division.
1963 with 3 battalions at three sites:
1st Battalion - BSP-1 with 2 R-16 pads - alert duty from 13.3.62
2nd Battalion - BSP-11 with 3 R-16 silos - alert duty from 25.2.65
3rd Battalion - BSP-12 with 2 R-16 pads - alert duty from 5.3.63
In March 1964 all battalions were upgraded to regiments:
1st Battalion remained as 723rd Missile Regiment, now with 2 R-16 pads (BSP-1)
2nd Battalion became 589th Missile Regiment with 3 R-16 silos (BSP-11)
3rd Battalion became 176th Missile Regiment with 2 R-16 pads (BSP-12)
In 1969 the BSP-1 site was transferred to the 589th Missile Regiment.
The regiment began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1969, and went on alert duty 28.12.70 at site BRK-8 with 10 silos.
The regiment stood down in 1976, and began conversion to the UR-100K missile - alert duty from 1976.
Disbanded 1.9.94.

US designation 1970-1994: Perm ICBM complex (Launch Group N). Type IIID silos.
