Activated 11.6.60 in Tatarsk, Novosibirsk Oblast, under the 213th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 49th Guards Missile Division.

Construction of further sites with R-9A (SS-8) missiles at Omsk/Tatarsk were abandoned in 1961, and the regiment was transferred to the Baikonur test center on 13.10.62.

2.8.63 renamed 6th independent Engineering & Test Unit.

Reactivated 1966 in Derzhavinsk, Turgay Oblast, under the 38th Missile Division.

The regiment went on alert duty 13.8.68 with 6 R-36 (8K67) (SS-9) silos at site BRK-6.

The regiment stood down 1978 and converted to the R-36MUTTKh - alert duty from 1978.

The regiment stood down 1992, and was disbanded (1992).
