The first battalion went on alert duty 25.9.61 (four R-12 pads), and the second battalion went on alert duty 10.12.61 (two R-12 pads) and 1.1.62 (the remaining two R-12 pads).
The regiment stood down 25.2.78, and was transferred to Nizhniy Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast, attached to the 42nd Missile Division.
The regiment went on alert duty 13.8.79 with 9 RSD-10 Pioner-K (15P645K) (SS-20) missiles.
The regiment stood down 1.4.85, and began conversion to the RT-2PM (SS-25) missile - alert duty from 20.12.85 with 9 missiles.

Two alternative fixed field sites for the pad launchers, were set up at Krasnoznamensk (54 57 31N, 22 35 22E) and Sudargas (55 00 50N, 22 35 53E), but both was inactive by 1967.
