In July 1974 half of the Test Department was used to re-activate the 1st Test Department.

1981 renamed 2nd Scientific Experimental Department (1st NIU).
On 1.12.89 the space parts of the Plesetsk Test Center were detached from the RVSN, and a new 1278th Center for Test and Application of Space Means (TSIP KS) was formed, which took control of the 1st and 2nd Scientific Experimental Departments.
