Activated 6.59 in Slobodskoy, Kirov Oblast, as the 33rd Combat Launch Station (33rd BSS), under Object Volga.

1.9.59 renamed 116th Engineer Regiment, now at Yurya, Kirov Oblast, attached to the 24th Artilley Range Administration.

1.7.60 renamed 116th Missile Regiment, now under the 25th Rocket Brigade, from 5.61 the 8th Missile Division.

1963 with 3 battalions at three sites:

In 1969 the regiment stood down, and the BSP-1 site was transferred to the 603rd Missile Regiment.

In 1.69 transferred to Kozelsk, Kaluga Oblast, and came under the 28th Guards Missile Division. Transferred again 12.7.71, this time to Pervomaysk, Nikolayev Oblast, under the 46th Missile Division.

Began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1970 - alert duty from 1970 at site BRK-8 with 10 UR-100 (8K84M) silos.

Converted to the UR-100U in 1974, the UR-100N (SS-19) missile 1976, the UR-100NU (SS-19 mod. 3) in 1980, and the RT-23U (SS-24) in 1989.

The regiment was disbanded 1997.

US designation 1960-1969: Yurya ICBM complex (Launch Site A, later Launch Site 2). Type IIA pads.
