Activated 1.9.58 in Vypolzovo, Tver oblast, as the 253rd Aviation (Missile) Regiment, from the 362nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment - directly attached to the 50th Air Army.
From 1.4.59 attached to the 25th Guards Aviation (Missile) Division, and from 1.7.60 the 29th Guards Missile Division.
9.8.59 renamed 253rd Engineer Regiment, and a day later (10.8.59) the 115th Engineer Regiment.
Relocated to Paplaka, Latvia, in September 1959, and was finally renamed 115th Missile Regiment 1.7.60.
The regiment consisted of two battalions with each 4 R-5M (SS-3) pads.
The first battalion went on alert duty in late 1959 (four R-5M pads). The second battalion went on alert duty 1.10.60 (four R-5M pads), although it had no warheads before April 1961.
The R-5M battalions stood down 1.5.66, and the regiment was relocated to Pervomaisk, Nikolayev Oblast, 15.8.68 - now attached to the 46th Missile Division.
The regiment began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1968/69, and went on alert duty 25.10.69 at site BRK-4, with 10 UR-100 (8K84) silos.
Converted to the UR-100U in 1974, the UR-100N (SS-19) missile 1976 and the UR-100NU (SS-19 mod.3) in 1980.
The missiles were removed 1995, and the regiment was disbanded 1997.
