Activated 1.7.60 at Shadrinsk, Kurgan Oblast, under the 205th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 18th Guards Missile Division.

1963 with 3 battalions at three sites:

• 1st Battalion - BSP-11 with 3 R-16 silos - alert duty from 8.7.63

• 2nd Battalion - BSP-12 with 3 R-16 silos - alert duty from 30.3.64

• 3rd Battalion - BSP-13 with 3 R-16 silos - alert duty from 3.3.65

10.62 - 11.64 known as the 703rd independent Missile Regiment, attached to the 5th independent Missile Corps.

In March 1964 all battalions were upgraded to regiments:

• 1st Battalion remained as 703rd Missile Regiment, now with 3 R-16 silos (BSP-11)

• 2nd Battalion became 000 Missile Regiment with 3 R-16 silos (BSP-12)

• 3rd Battalion became 000 Missile Regiment with 3 R-16 silos (BSP-13)

From 15.11.64 attached to the 17th Missile Brigade (formed from parts of the 703rd Missile Regiment).

The regiment stood down in 1977, and was disbanded shortly thereafter (1979).

US designation 1960-1977: Shadrinsk ICBM complex (Launch site A, later Launch Site 1). Type IIIA silos.
