Activated 5.60 in Nizhniy Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast, under the 202nd Missile Brigade, from 30.5.61 the 42nd Missile Division.

Controlled three R-16 (SS-7) battalions (sites):

• 1st Battalion (BSP-22) with 3 R-16 silos
• 2nd Battalion (BSP-23) with 2 R-16 pads
• 3rd Battalion (BSP-21) with 3 R-16 silos

Disbanded 15.4.63, and each battalion became independent:

• 1st Battalion became the 94th independent Missile Battalion (see the 804th Missile Regiment)
• 2nd Battalion became the 34th independent Missile Battalion (see the 146th Guards Missile Regiment)
• 3rd Battalion became the 111th independent Missile Battalion (see the 808th Missile Regiment)
