Activated 1.8.61 in Leninskiy (Leninsk), Kzyl-Orda Oblast, from the 627th Missile Regiment, under the Baikonur Test Center (5th NIIP).

The units main tasks were missile/complex tests with the R-16U (SS-7) and the R-36 (SS-9) ICBMs.

From 31.5.62 attached to the 2nd Test Department.

Disbanded 1968.

• three 8K64 (SS-7) silos: PU6, PU7 and PU8 (Sheksna-V) - built 9.60-9.62
• first launch/last launch 13.6.62/22.10.66 (PU6), 13.7.62/20.10.66 (PU8) and 18.5.63/3.10.67 (PU7) - total 10 launches
• all three silos on alert duty 1.12.64 to 1967
• from 1968 subordinated to the 100th Training Center RVSN (100th UTS)
• silos dismantled in early 1970's

• three 8K67 (SS-9) silos: PU16, PU17 and PU18 - built 1962-9.63
• PU16 no launch, PU17 one launch 13.1.65 (silo damaged, not restored), PU18 two launches (27.4.65 and 18.5.65)
• silo PU16 and PU18 was on alert duty from 9.63 to 1968
• tested programme of prolonged storage of the 8K67 missile
• silos dismantled in early 1970's
