Activated 1.5.64 in Leninsk, Kzyl-Orda Oblast, under the 2nd Test Department, Baikonur Test Center (5th NIIP).

The units main task was missile/complex tests and training with the 8K67 (SS-9) and later the 15A14 (SS-18) ICBM's.

Disbanded 1980.
