Activated 1.5.64 in Leninsk, Kzyl-Orda Oblast, under the 4th Test Department, Baikonur Test Center (5th NIIP).

The units main tasks was missile/complex tests and orbital launches with the UR-500 (Proton) launcher.

• PU24 (right) - first launch period 22.11.67-23.5.79, maintenance 1979-1987, 2nd launch period began 5.7.99 - still in use, 50+ launches

• PU23 reconstructed 1987-11.89, and PU24 reconstructed 2.97-4.99
