Activated 4.2.46 in Bobruisk, Mogilev Oblast, from the Baranovichi and Minsk Military Districts.

Organisation 1960:

From 8.65 the 47th Guards Training Tank Division was attached to the district (11.65 renamed 45th Guards Training Tank Division).

22.2.68 awarded the Red Banner.

Organisation 1970:

In 8.72 the 51st Guards Artillery Division was activated.

Organisation 1980:

In 6.82 the 120th Guards Motorised Rifle Division was renamed 5th independent Guards Army Corps.

In 1983 the 70th Artillery Division (mobilisation) was activated.

In 1984 the 80th Artillery Division (mobilisation) was activated.

Organisation 1988:

In 6.89 the 5th independent Guards Army Corps was renamed 120th Guards Motorised Rifle Division.

In 10.89 the 70th Artillery Division (mobilisation) was disbanded, and the 80th Artillery Division (mobilisation) was reduced to an equipment storage base.

6.5.92 disbanded, and formed the basis of the Belarussian Ministry of Defence.
