Activated 15.6.44 in Khotilovo, Kalinin Oblast, as the 93rd independent Observation and Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment, from the 25th independent Observation and Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron.
1946(?) renamed 313th independent Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment.
In mid-1967 the 2nd squadron was renamed 64th independent Tactical Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron, and was transferred to Karshi-Khanabad, Kashkadar'inskaya Oblast.
Part of the unit (squadron sized) served twice in Afghanistan - while there known as the 263rd independent Tactical Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron:
6.81 to 5.82 at Kabul [34 33 55N, 69 12 50E] with MiG-21R
5.87 to 9.88 at Bagram [34 56 43N, 69 15 45E] with Su-17M3R
1.10.94 absorbed the 125th independent Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment.
2009 absorbed by the 6980th Aviation Base.
