Part of the unit (2nd squadron) served in Kabul, Afghanistan [34 33 55N, 69 12 50E] with MiG-21R, 7.7.82 to 17.8.83 - while there known as the 263rd independent Tactical Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron.

Disbanded 5.98.
