Formed in 1940 as the Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon, attached to 7. Flieger-Division.

On 5.43 renamed Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 1 with 4 companies, now attached to 1. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division.

In April 1945, the 2nd company was used to form Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 10.
