9.2.61 inherited the honors and awards from the 27th Guards Cannon Artillery Brigade.

Initial organisation:

30.5.61 renamed 54th Guards Missile Division.

In March 1964 all R-16 battalions were upgraded to regiments:

In 1965 the 621st Missile Regiment was transferred to Dombarovskiy, Orenburg Oblast (13th Missile Division).

1966 began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile.

In 1969 three regiments arrived at Teykovo:

In 1971 the 593rd Missile Regiment were transferred to Pervomaysk, Luhansk Oblast (46th Missile Division).

Organisation 1972 (60 UR-100 silos, 20 UR-100K silos and 12 R-16 pads):

The R-16 missile was phased out in 1976.

Organisation 1984 (80 UR-100K silos):

The UR-100K missile was phased out in 1988-1991, and the division converted to the RT-2PM mobile missile in 1988.

Organisation 1998:

Disbanded 1.12.2005.
