Activated 1.5.61 at Karmelava, Lithuania, under the 58th Missile Division, from the 868th Fighter Aviation Regiment.

Organisation:

• 1st battalion with 4 R-12 (SS-4) pads - alert duty from 8.1.62 (two R-12 pads) and 10.2.62 (the remaining two R-12 pads)
• 2nd battalion with 4 R-12 (SS-4) pads - alert duty from 1.9.62 (two R-12 pads) and 1.12.62 (the remaining two R-12 pads)

The 2nd battalion stood down in 1987, followed by the first battalion in 1989 - the regiment was disbanded April 1990.

US designation: Jonava MRBM complex (Karmelava and Jonava launch sites). Type II (pad) sites.

One alternative fixed field site for the pad launchers, were set up at Kaisiadorys (54 59 12N, 24 28 47E), but was apparently inactive by 1967.
