Activated 20.12.50 in Kapustin Yar, Astrakhan Oblast, as the 3rd Launch Battalion of the 23rd Brigade for Special Use RVGK.

1.51 transferred to Kamyshin, Volgograd Oblast.

3.53 renamed 651st independent Engineer Battalion RVGK, attached to the 73rd Engineer Brigade RVGK.

7.59 transferred to Svalyava, Transcarpathian Oblast, and 1.10.59 renamed 101st Engineer Regiment RVGK.

1.7.60 renamed 101st Missile Regiment, now under the 44th Missile Division.

Organisation:

On 10.6.62 the regimental HQ was transferred to Mukachevo, Transcarpathian Oblast.

The two battalions stood down in 1965.

The regiment moved to Sary-Ozek, Turkestan, on 30.5.67, and began conversion to the Temp-S (SS-12) missile - alert duty from 1967.

1968 transferred to the Army, and 1969 renamed 126th Missile Brigade.

US designation: Mukachevo MRBM complex (Mukachevo launch sites 1 and 2). Type I (pad) sites.
