Activated 1.68 in Leipzig-Taucha, East Germany, for airfield defence in the East Germany.

From 1.84 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion Group with two S-200 (SA-5) battalions, a technical battalion and a Repair-Technical Base (nuclear warheads) were attached to the brigade - stationed at Wendgräben, East Germany - 52 09 12N, 12 01 42E.

Organisation 1988:

Each battalion controlled four twin SA-3 launchers (later three or four quad SA-3 launchers), 12+ SA-7/14/16 shoulder launchers and a 23mm ZSU-23-4 battery.

1991 withdrawn and disbanded.
