Activated 1960 in Liepaya, Latvian SSR, as the 960th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

1965 renamed 158th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

Organisation 1960's:

During 1965 one independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with a total of 5 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade:

Another Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with a total of 3 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade after 1970:

In 1980 two S-200V battalions were disbanded at the Grobina site, followed by the remaining 3 battalions in 1990.

1980's with 5 S-200V (SA-5), 5 S-75M (SA-2) and 6 S-125M (SA-3) battalions.

From 1986 began conversion to the S-300PS missile (6 battalions in two groups):

1991 with 2 S-200V and 6 S-300PS battalions.

1993 transferred to Lomonosov, and united with the 83rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade, and renamed 500th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
