Activated 6.60 at Balta, Odessa Oblast, under the 29th Missile Brigade, and from 5.61 the 46th Missile Division.

The regiment consisted of two battalions with each 4 R-12 (SS-4) pads.

The two battalions went on alert duty in 1961 (eight R-12 pads).

The two battalions stood down in 1968, and the regiment was transferred to Pervomaysk, Nikolayev Oblast.

The regiment began conversion to the UR-100 (SS-11) missile in 1969 - alert duty from 25.5.70 with 10 UR-100 (8K85) (SS-11) silos at site BRK-1.

Converted to the UR-100U in 1973, the UR-100N (SS-19) missile 1975, the UR-100NU (SS-19 mod. 3) in 1979, and finally the RT-23U (SS-24) in 1989 (alert duty from 29.12.89).

The missiles were removed 1996(?), and the regiment was disbanded 1.7.98.

One alternative fixed field site for the pad launchers, were set up at Kodyma (48 04 15N, 29 18 30E), but appeared to be inactive by 1967.
