Activated 1.2.53 in Glagolevo, Moscow Oblast - initially as the 1937th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment for Special Use and from 1955 as the 612th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for Special Use.

1953 to 1988 equipped with 60 S-25 (SA-1) launchers:

• Launch area: 55 28 25N, 37 01 53E (US designation: Moscow SAM site C24-1)
• Support area: 55 28 50N, 37 00 03E
• Guidance area: 55 28 52N, 37 02 03E

1988 converted to the S-300PM (SA-10) with three independent battalions:

• 1st independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion (Shishkin Les, Moscow Oblast) - 55 27 56N, 37 14 08E
• 2nd independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion and HQ (Glagolevo, Moscow Oblast) - 55 28 13N, 37 00 33E
• 3rd independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion (Petelino, Moscow Oblast) - 55 35 21N, 36 47 23E

1.5.98 united with the 920th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment and renamed 612th Guards Kievskaya thrice Red Banner orders of Suvorov and Bogdan Khmelnitskiy Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
