Activated 1960 in Plesetsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast, as the 857th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, from the 857th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

Initially with 4 S-75 (SA-2) battalions, while five additional S-125 (SA-3) battalions were activated in 1967.

Organisation:

1967 renamed 24th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

During 1968 an independent Anti-Aircraft Missile Group with 3 launch S-200 (SA-5) battalions were added to the brigade:

1970's and 1980's with 3 S-200 (SA-5), 4 S-75 (SA-2) and 5 S-125 (SA-3) battalions.

1991 with 3 S-75M3 (SA-2), 3 S-125 (SA-3) and 3 S-200 (SA-5) battalions.

1994 reduced to 366th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

Disbanded 1997 - the order of the Red Star was transferred to the 1528th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
