Activated 5.60 in Bolshoye Ozerko, Murmansk Oblast, as the 517th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, from the 517th Guards Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

Intially with 4 S-75 (SA-2) battalions.

1967 absorbed the 000 Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, took over it's Red Banner award, and was renamed 116th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

1967 took over two S-125 (SA-3) battalions from the 000 Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, while three new S-125 battalions were activated.

Organisation 1960's:

1980 with 6 S-75 (SA-2) and 5 S-125 (SA-3) battalions.

1986 began conversion to the S-300PS (SA-10) missile:

1990 renamed 121st Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

1991 with 2 S-300PS (SA-10) , 1 S-75 (SA-2) and 5 S-125 (SA-3) battalions.

Disbanded 6.94.
