Ships:

Berezina - 61 Kommunara, Nikolayev - serial no. 2101 - laid down 18.8.72 - launched 20.4.75 - completed 30.12.77; 5.12 to 20.12.77 naviation and weapons tests in the Black Sea, including Osa (SA-N-4) missile tests; 2.78 accepted into the Black Sea Fleet (9th Supply Ship Brigade); 26.5 to 28.9.78 several tests in the Black Sea, including transfer of goods and fuel to TAVKR "Minsk", BPK "Smetlivyy" and the tugs "Orion" and "SB-4" - also Ka-25 helicopter tests in the same period; 11.78 to 4.79 operations in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic (trials in the Bay of Biscay 25.3 to 28.3.79) - transfer of goods, water and fuel to many ships during this period, including TAVKR "Kiev" and "Minsk", BPK "Smyshlenyy" "Petropavlovsk", "Tashkent" and "Smelyy", BDK "Ivan Rogov" and several smaller support ships; 7.79 to 9.79 operations in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic - including refuelling of BPK "Admiral Ushakov", "Komsomolets Ukrainy" and "Pylkiy"; 10.79 to 12.79 operations in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, with a short tour to the Barents Sea for tests under cold conditions; 1980 to 1981 operations in the Indian Ocean, including a visit to Aden, Yemen; 1981 to spring 1982 operations in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic; 1982 operations in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic (16.12.82 to 19.1.83); 1985 to 14.5.86 repairs at 61 Kommunara, Nikolayev; 14.5.86 en route to the Mediterranean collided with the freighter "Kapitan Soroka" in the Black Sea - returned to Nikolayev for further repairs (6.86 to early 1987); 6.88 to 15.1.89 operations in the Mediterranean; 1990 operations in the Mediterranean; 1991 operations in the Mediterranean (9th and last operational tour) - are known to have visited Tartus, Syria - Piraeus, Greece and Varna, Bulgaria during some of the nine operational tours; 24.5.95 preparations were underway to transfer the ship to the Northern Fleet, but this was cancelled, as the ship was believed unsuitable for Arctic operations; 3.2002 decommissioned; towed to Aliaga, Turkey, and scapped in late 2002
