Activated 25.6.57 in Nakhichevan, Nakhichevanskaya ASSR, from the 75th Rifle Division.

Organisation 1960:

19.2.62 re-organised:

In 1962 the 62nd Artillery Regiment was replaced by the 1010th Artillery Regiment.

In 1968 the 97th independent Sapper Battalion was renamed 97th independent Engineer-Sapper Battalion.

In 1980 the 000 independent Motor Transport Battalion was renamed 1545th independent Material Supply Battalion.

4.1.90 transferred to the KGB Border Guards, and renamed 75th Motorised Rifle Division PV KGB SSSR.

In 1.90 the 1041st Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment was transferred to the 23rd Guards Motorised Rifle Division, and was not replaced.

In 4.90 the 124th Guards Tank Regiment was divided into the 120th independent Guards Tank Battalion and the 1363rd Motorised Rifle Regiment - both left the division, and became attached to the 4th Combined Arms Army.

In 8.91 transferred to the Army, and renamed 75th Motorised Rifle Division.

7.92 disbanded - equipment was transferred to Azerbaizhan.
