The 370th independent Special Forces Unit (military unit: 83428 while in Afghanistan) was activated 12.84 for service in Afghanistan - deployed to Afghanistan 21.3.85 to 15.8.88 - cover designation was 6th Motorised Rifle Battalion - operated from Lashkar Gah - attached to the 22nd independent Special Forces Brigade GRU while in Afghanistan. 1987 tasked with capturing examples of US Stinger missiles, which happened shortly thereafter.

28.9.92 to 30.11.92 the 370th and 669th independent Special Forces Units was deployed to Tadzikistan
13.1.95 to 2.5.95 the 370th independent Special Forces Units took part in the first Chechen war, mainly operating in Groznyy
14.8.99 to 26.9.06 the 664th independent Special Forces Unit was stationed in Chechnya
10.2001 to 5.2002 one company was deployed to Kosovo for peacekeeping duties
12.8.08 to 10.2009 part of the brigade was deployed to the Abkhazia region for peacekeeping duties
