Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring

Formed in Winter 41/42 as Schützen-Bataillon General Göring*.

In 7.42 strengthened and renamed Schützen-Regiment Hermann Göring.

In 2.43 renamed Grenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring (initially with no number). In the same month III. battalion (Stab only) was redesignated Stab I./Panzer-Regiment Hermann Göring, I. became new III. and a new I. battalion was formed.

The regiment was destroyed 5.43 in Africa.

Reformed 5.43 in Sicily as Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring.

In 7.44 renamed Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring.

On 24.9.44 redesignated Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 4 Hermann Göring, and was reformed from the old Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 4 Hermann Göring. In 12.44 the I. battalion was redesignated Fallschirm-Panzer-Füsilier-Bataillon 1 Hermann Göring, and was reformed from the III. battalion. A new III. was formed in 1945.

Served under Brigade/Division General Göring, from 5.43 under Panzer/Fallschirm-Panzer-Division Hermann Göring and from 11.44 under Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Division 1 Hermann Göring.

The III. battalion apparently stayed in Luftgau III in 1945.

* An earlier Schützen-Bataillon General Göring existed between 3.41 and 11.41, and saw action in Romania and South Russia.
