Formed 1.12.39 in Luftgau XI (Westwall), but moved to Mönchen-Gladbach (Luftgau VI) a few days later. In early 1940 to Rendsburg (Luftgau XI), and in 5.40 participated in the attack on France (5.40 - 6.40 known as Flak-Brigade Wagner) with:

12.40 at Fontenay-le-Comte on the Atlantic coast, but in 3.41 moved to Paris. Apparently remained in Paris until 5.42 (although it might have moved to Darmstadt already in 1941), when it moved to Ploesti. Left Ploesti for Darmstadt 17.11.42; 12.42 with:

On 1.3.43 redesignated Stab/21. Flak-Division.

Reformed 25.8.44 in Stettin-Pölitz (as 6. Flak-Brigade) from Stab/Flak-Regiment 172 with:

Organisation 1.12.44 (HQ Stettin-Gotzlow):

4.45 saw ground combat at the Stettin bridgehead:

Surrendered 5.45.
