Fallschirm-Jäger-Regiment 2

Kommandeure:

Formed 26.8.39 with I. and II./FJR.2 (I. at Gardelegen, II. at Tangermünde) from cadres of FJR.1. The Stab and III./FJR.2 was formed 21.5.40. In 9.42 III./FJR.2 was redesignated III./FJR.4, and was replaced in 1943. I./FJR.2 remained in Italy when the 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division moved to Russia in December 1943, and was redesignated I./FJR.10. A new I. Btl. was later formed, but this never joined the rest of the regiment, but operated independently on the Western front (8.44 in Ahrbrück, 9.44 under Fs.AOK.1 in Belgium [Albert-Kanal] and Holland [Arnheim-Nijmegen], and was used to reform the new FJR.2 in Amersfoort, Holland). The main part of the regiment was destroyed when Brest fell on 19.9.44. Reformed 12.44 in Amersfoort, and finally surrendered in the Ruhr pocket.

Saw action independently under 7. Flieger-Division, but from 2.43 was part of 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division:
